Donald Trump’s unfavorable view among Americans just reached a new high, with a new poll claiming that seven out of 10 Americans believe that the Republican presumptive nominee is unfit to be the next president of the United States.
The new poll figures make Donald Trump one of the the most disliked presidential candidates in the history of the United States, and even as his rival candidate Hillary Clinton continues to be on a downward spiral of her own, her career-high negative ratings still pale in comparison to that of Trump’s.
According to a new Washington Post/ABC poll carried out this week, 7 out of 10 Americans perceive Trump unfavorably, a sharp rise from the results of the same poll conducted in May, in which almost 60 percent of those surveyed claimed that they viewed Donald Trump unfavorably.
Trump’s racist remarks against federal judge, Gonzalo Curiel, who is presiding over civil fraud lawsuits against Trump University, could be one of the reasons for the real estate mogul’s increasing unpopularity among Americans in general, and Latinos in particular, with the Washington Post reporting that nine out of 10 Hispanics do not want Trump to occupy the Oval Office come November.
Earlier this month, Donald Trump had suggested Curiel’s “Mexican heritage” as being responsible for his alleged prejudice against him, a remark which had not only drawn the ire of legal experts, but even had Republicans, including Speaker Paul Ryan, calling it the “textbook definition of racist comment.”

Moreover, the new poll shows that Donald Trump’s comments about women, which have ranged from the insensitive to the bizarre, have made him particularly unpopular among female voters, with The Guardian reporting that 63 percent of women have vowed that they would not vote for Trump under any circumstances.
In fact, at the time of writing, more than 40,000 people have already signed an online pledge vowing #NeverTrump.

Democratic presumptive nominee Hillary Clinton does not fare well in the new poll either, with 55 percent Americans claiming that they would not want her to become the next president of the country.
Clinton’s unfavorable ratings have not subsided even after she clinched the Democratic nomination, with the former Secretary of State being particularly disliked among young voters. Democrats hoping for party unity fear that unless Bernie Sanders’ supporters switch to supporting Clinton in the general election — a probability that appears unlikely unless Sanders’ concerns are given weight by the DEM — Hillary Clinton could have a tough battle on her hands even against an unfavorable Trump.
Moreover, Clinton suffers massively on account of allegations of corruption that abound against the Clinton Foundation, in addition to the FBI probe that is being currently conducted on her private email system.

The remarkably high negative ratings of both major-party candidates make Trump and Clinton the least liked presumptive nominees since 1984, according to Politico, meaning that Americans will not be voting as much for getting their preferred candidates into office, but rather for keeping the other candidate out of the White House.
Having said that, however, Clinton would still be better placed to beat Donald Trump owing to her vastly superior political experience, something that seems to hinder Trump more than it helps him.
